Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse

Location: On Lake Ontario, Niagara County, thirty miles west of the Niagara River (hence the name)

Description: Limestone dwelling and attached square tower, with white/black/red lantern. Tower height 61 feet; focal plane 71 feet. Originally housed Third Order lens.

History of light:

1876: Established, to mark a sandbar and shoal

1959: Automated. New light put on skeleton tower

1998: Relit as a private aid to navigation

Current use:  Private Aid to Navigation

The surrounding area: Is located in Golden Hill State Park

Public access? Yes.

Other information: There are several historic outbuildings on site. Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
